HSA-qualified health plans let you make pre-tax or tax deductible contributions to a heath savings account - a special interest-bearing account where you can more effectively save money for medical expenses.

For 2008, the minimum deductible for HSA-qualified health plans is $1,100 for self-only coverage and $2,200 for family coverage. For 2008, the maximum annual HSA contribution for an eligible individual with self-only coverage is $2,900. For family coverage, the maximum HSA contribution is $5,800. Persons age 55 and older may also make a "catch-up" contribution of up to $900 in 2008.
